- World Deaf Day (WDD) which is usually observed every year on the last Sunday in the month of September.
- This year it was observed on September 29.
- It aims to create awareness about the contributions of deaf people to society.
- The day was initiated by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) headquartered in Helsinki, Finland.
