- Indian shuttler Jerlin Anika, a Madurai born player, won gold medal at the International Deaf Youth Badminton Championship that was held in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.
- She won the gold against the Finja Rosendahl of Germany.
- She has also won two silvers in the same competition.
- Jerlin was the only player from Tamil nadu who is part of the 16-member Indian contingent in Taipei.
