World First Aid Day was started by the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies in 2000.
The second Saturday of September is celebrated as the World first aid day.
The day aims to raise awareness about how first aid can save lives in everyday and crisis situations and stresses that it should be accessible to all, including the most vulnerable.
The theme of World First Aid Day 2019 is "First Aid and Excluded People".
