- Prime Minister has inaugurated the World Conference on Information Technology (WCIT-2018) in Hyderabad through video-conferencing.
- India is hosting the event for the very first time in partnership with NASSCOM, World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) and the government of Telangana.
- It will second time that the event will be taking place in Asia after it was hosted in Kualalumpur, Malaysia in 2008.
- The theme of this edition of the conference is ‘Future Enterprises.’
- Sophia the humanoid, who is a Saudi citizen, is also attended this conference.
World Information Technology Congress (WITC)
- WITC is a biennial event and considered as the biggest event of its kind.
- It was first held in 1978 since then held after every two years. The 2014 WITC was held in Mexico and had focused on the theme of ‘Digital World’ and 2016 edition was held in Brasilia, Brazil.
