- The UN-International Organization for Migration (IOM) has published its World Migration Report 2020.
- It estimates that the number of international migrants is 270 million.
- USA is the top migration destination with around 51 million migrants.
- At 17.5 million, India is the largest country of origin of international migrants.
- It received the highest remittance of $78.6 billion from Indians living abroad followed by China ($67.4 billion) and Mexico ($35.7 billion).
- US remained the top remittance-sending country ($68.0 billion) followed by the UAE ($44.4 billion) and Saudi Arabia ($36.1 billion).
- Syria is the top refugee-originating country (6 million) followed by Afghanisthan.
