- Every year Mother's Day is celebrated across the world on second Sunday of May month.
- This year it was celebrated on May 12.
- It is celebrated in honour of motherhood and to pay tribute to mothers all around the world.
- Writer Julia Ward Howe is credited with first thinking of the idea of Mother's Day in 1872.
- In 1908 Anna Jarvis campaigned for a national holiday in US in honour of her mother who was a community health advocate.
- Then in 1914 Former US President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation and designated Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honour mothers.
- Later Mother’s Day came to be celebrated worldwide.
