- It marks the anniversary of the establishment of Universal Postal Union (UPU) across the World.
- UPU was established in 1874in Bern, Switzerland.
- It was declared as the World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969.
- World Post Day 2020’s theme is “We Have Always Delivered”.
- The Government of India is celebrating National Postal week from 9th – 15th October, 2020.
