- It was founded in 2017 by Rainforest Partnership.
- The theme of this Day for 2022 is ‘The Time is Now’.
- Rainforests are a source of many resources such as fresh water and clean air as they absorb harmful gases including carbon dioxide.
- Despite covering just 6 per cent of the Earth’s surface, rainforests are home to around 50 per cent of all terrestrial biodiversity found on Earth.
