- World Rhino Day is celebrated on September 22 every year and it celebrates all 5 species of rhino: Black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos.
- The day was observed to make people aware about the importance of Rhinos
- World Rhino Day was first announced by WWF-South Africa in 2010.
- There are approximately 2600 rhinos found in Assam alone in India.
