World's First Lion Cubs Born Using Artificial Insemination

  • The world's first lions conceived by artificial insemination have been born at Pretoria in South Africa.
  • The cubs have been named as Isabel and Victor by their keepers.
  • Scientists have accomplished this by 18-month trial of tests researching the reproductive system of female African lions.
  • African lions are now designated as “vulnerable” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
