World's highest bridge on Chenab

  • The Indian Railways has launched the main arch of the world's highest bridge on the River Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.
  • The bridge will provide direct connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.
  • The iconic bridge is being constructed on River Chenab on the Katra-Banihal section as part of the flagship Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project
  • Chenab Bridge will approximately be five times higher than Delhi's Qutub Minar and 35 metres higher than the Eiffel tower.
  • Chenab river’s rail bridge is the highest rail arch bridge in the world.
  • It is 1315 meters long and 395 meters above the bridge.
  • Designed to run trains at a top speed of 100 Kmph, having a design life of 120 years.
