The Indian Railways has launched the main arch of the world's highest bridge on the River Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.
The bridge will provide direct connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.
The iconic bridge is being constructed on River Chenab on the Katra-Banihal section as part of the flagship Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project
Chenab Bridge will approximately be five times higher than Delhi's Qutub Minar and 35 metres higher than the Eiffel tower.
Chenab river’s rail bridge is the highest rail arch bridge in the world.
It is 1315 meters long and 395 meters above the bridge.
Designed to run trains at a top speed of 100 Kmph, having a design life of 120 years.
