  • The World’s largest Single-location Solar Photo-voltaic (PV) Plant will be set up in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir.
  • The 5000 MW Ladakh project will be located at Hanle-Khaldo in Nyoma block, about 250 km from Leh and 200 km from Kargil.
  • It will be supplemented by another 2.5GW solar project in the Kargil district.
  • The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) expects the 5 GW Ladakh solar farm to be the world’s largest, surpassing China’s 3 GW Datong Solar Power Project.
  • This project will be completed in 2023 and is expected to save around 12,750 tonnes of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions annually.
