- Vinesh Phogat clinched a bronze medal at Wrestling World Championships held at Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
- She defeated two-time world bronze medalist Maria Prevolaraki of Greece in the 53 kg freestyle event.
- She is only the fourth Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the prestigious tournament.
- She has also won gold medals at Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games gold medals.
- With this win she has qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
