  • It aims to celebrate individuality, inclusion and human rights while promoting tolerance, compassion and peace.
  • It was first celebrated by the United Nations' HIV/AIDS Program (UNAIDS) in December of 2013.
  • UN and other global organizations officially celebrated the day on March 1st, 2014.
