- ZyCoV-D is the plasmid DNA vaccine designed and developed by Zydus.
- It is the first indigenously developed vaccine for COVID-19 to be administered in humans in India.
- It is partially funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the National Biopharma Mission (NBM).
- NBM was launched in 2017 and is implemented by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
